About Dr.R.Guha Pradeepa

Dr.R.Guha Pradeepa is Senior Scientist and Head of Research Operations at the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai, India. She completed her Post Graduate in Food Service Management and Dietetics from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore in 1987 and was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy from Madras University, Chennai in 2008. Her research interests include diabetes and its complications in epidemiological studies.

Studies

Dr. Guha Pradeepa has been involved in large epidemiological studies such as the Chennai Urban Population Study (CUPS), Chennai Urban Rural Epidemiology Study (CURES), Prevention, Awareness, Counselling and Evaluation [PACE] Diabetes Project and Cardiometabolic Risk Reduction in South Asia (CARRS) surveillance study.

She is also National Co-Principal Investigator of the Indian Council of Medical Research – India Diabetes (ICMR-INDIAB) Study, a large epidemiological study with a total sample size of 124,000, which will, for the first time, provide representative, population-based data on the prevalence of diabetes and pre-diabetes in both urban and rural India. She is also currently coordinating the Lifestyle InterVention in Gestational Diabetes (LIVING) trials, which is a lifestyle intervention program for the prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus among South Asian women with gestational diabetes mellitus. Dr.Guha Pradeepa will be contributing to the Digital Health intervention component of the NGHRU project.
